Outdoor Gymnasium for Girls-at-Risk

PROJECTS | Youth-At-Risk

Who you will help

Because many girls lived on the streets, escaping violent home environments, organized sports are foreign to them. Currently, Beit Ruth has been operating several different onsite and offsite sports activities that benefit the girls' physical and emotional well-being. These programs are in areas with limited space and shade. The lack of a professional space restricts Beit Ruth's ability to accommodate different types of physical fitness equipment. Beit Ruth seeks support to design and construct an outdoor gym that allows them to professionally execute their Sports Therapy Program. Sports is one among several diverse and research-based Enrichment Programs that help girls who have survived childhood abuse and neglect rebuild trust and learn critical life skills, including teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence.

With the generosity of a donor, Beit Ruth envisions a portable, pagoda-shaded outdoor gym with synthetic grass for safety. The range of physical equipment would include: Nest Swing, Double leg Press, Sit-Up Bench, Butterfly Fitness Bench, Stationary Bicycle, Elliptical Machine, Chest Press and Trampoline.

About Beit Ruth

The aim of Beit Ruth's Sports Therapy Program is to give at-risk girls the opportunity to engage in physical activities that contribute to their overall emotional and physical health. Through Sports Therapy, Beit Ruth girls acquire a multitude of skills, knowledge, and benefits, including physical strength and endurance, lowering the risk of diseases, and stress relief. Furthermore, sports provides the girls the opportunity to learn critical life skills, such as leadership and teamwork, building stronger relationships, positive sportsmanship, and improving communications.
